The SAT is one of the most important standardized tests your high schooler will take — and choosing the right preparation program can make a significant difference in their score. Here’s what to look for when evaluating SAT prep options in Georgia.
1. Look for subject-matter experts, not generalists.
The best SAT instructors don’t just know test-taking strategies — they deeply understand the underlying math, grammar, and reading comprehension concepts the test measures. At Yuan Shuo Academy, our SAT instructors hold advanced degrees in Mathematics and English Literature, respectively.
2. Make sure both sections are covered thoroughly.
Many programs focus heavily on Math while underserving the Reading & Writing section (or vice versa). Look for a program that treats both sections with equal rigor. Our academy offers dedicated SAT Math and SAT Reading & Writing courses taught by separate specialists.
3. Prioritize small group instruction.
Large classroom SAT prep rarely produces the same results as targeted, small-group instruction where a teacher can identify and address each student’s specific weak points.
4. Start earlier than you think.
Most students benefit from beginning SAT prep in the spring of their sophomore year or fall of junior year. Waiting until the spring of junior year leaves little time for score improvement.
